iACTforDGBI featured in Svenska Dagbladet
Yesterday, research leader Inês Trindade and iACTforDGBI collaborator Sanna Nybacka were featured in the Swedish morning daily newspaper Svenska Dagbladet! As experts in their fields, they were interviewed for the article titled "Oväntad behandling gav 'rejäl' effekt mot IBS" (Unexpected treatment had a "significant" effect on IBS).
While diet has been a major focus in the context of IBS, especially with the introduction of FODMAP (fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols) over the past decade, research suggests that the mind and psychology play an equally important role.
In the article, our ongoing project, iACTforDGBI, was mentioned! When asked whether diet, medicine, or CBT was more effective, Inês emphasized the importance of better identifying which treatments benefit specific patients. She noted that healthcare professionals must consider each individual case, as research suggests. Additionally, Inês highlighted a significant issue in Swedish healthcare: the shortage of psychologists in primary care.
Sanna Nybacka followed Inês' statements about treatment, stating "What is new is that we are focusing more on how to become better in identifying which patients benefit most from the different treatments available."
We would like to thank Inês and Sanna for making an appearance and sharing their insights! We are thrilled that our project was recognized in Swedish media!
